Home' Nova National : September 2009 Contents Throughout the centuries, the
Buddhas and great saints have often
been depicted with a body of light.
It may be represented by a rainbow body,
a halo, emanations of energy coming off
their body or even through gold or blue
coloured skin. The amount of light in their
energy field is a sign of the development
of the soul and a symbol of a great teacher.
We, too, can develop the body of light and
the masters throughout history have shown
us the way. Through this development and
transformation, we have a greater ability
to heal ourselves and others, and fulfil a
greater and higher destiny for ourselves
and the planet.
The symbols of energy around the
masters from all creeds indicate that these
great souls brought amazing amounts of
light and divine power onto the planet.
Jesus is often depicted touching his heart

and the Buddha is often portrayed with a
halo and energy radiating from his body or
his hands. They are a source of inspiration
and their energy bodies radiate God force.
Often these ancient images also contain
symbols that point us to the secrets of this
high spiritual attainment.
To understand these concepts better
we need to start to understand that we
are beings of energy, not just physical
matter. Commonly known as the aura or
human energy field, this energy body is an
extension of us and can often be felt by
other people and seen by clairvoyants. This
energy field interpenetrates and expands
beyond the physical body and contains
energy centres or chakras that play a key
role in the health of our body, as well as
our higher emotional, mental and spiritual
qualities. Energy flows very easily and there
are many techniques to help you receive
energy, as well as those that can help you
give energy to others.
You may have heard the saying, "We
are not physical beings having a spiritual
experience, but spiritual beings having a
The late Master Choa Kok Sui, a spiritual
master of energy and healing, explained
it like this, "You are actually a soul with a
body, not a body with a soul."
The body is the vehicle of the soul. The
light that we perceive is the light of the soul
radiating through the person. The great
masters were depicted with great bodies of
light because they were so developed that
they radiated this soul force. Of particular
interest are the depictions with a halo or
light around the head. This is a symbolic
representation of the highly activated
crown chakra that allows the person to be
filled with divine light and guided more by
their higher soul.
When we embrace this concept and
practise spiritual techniques, we can actually
bring more soul force and light into our
physical and energy bodies and build the
body of light. According to Master Choa,
the modern founder of pranic healing and
arhatic yoga, the flow of spiritual energy
comes into our body via the crown chakra
on the top of our head. From the crown
chakra, upwards to the heavens, we have
a spiritual cord "rooting" us to our higher
soul and to the divine. This spiritual cord
is also known as antahkarana which is a
Sanskrit word that means the "bridge of
light". The spiritual cord is said to be only
a few hairs thick in the average person, but
through spiritual practice it can be built
into a great pillar of light that infuses the
person with higher qualities of the soul.
This is a concept that it very important on
the spiritual path because building your
"body of light" comes through spiritual
pursuits that activate your crown chakra
and the amount of soul energy flowing into
your system via the spiritual cord.
The great Buddhas are often depicted
in statues as meditating with eyes half open
and with a body of gold. The golden body
of the Buddha is a symbol that the energy
field has been filled and alchemically
transformed by divine energy. Meditation is
one of the secret keys to building your body
of light, but will all meditation techniques
have the desired effect?
The answer lies in the crown chakra.
Does the meditation technique activate the
crown chakra and the spiritual cord? Will
it give you a halo? Will it infuse you with
One of the keys to activating the crown
chakra is to firstly activate the heart chakra
as demonstrated in a meditation described
by Master Choa as the Meditation on Twin
Hearts. Being able to feel love, compassion
and mercy on a human level is necessary
before we can experience it on a higher,
more universal level. When you gently
focus on your heart and recall beautiful,
joyful and loving moments in your life, your
heart chakra expands. If you repeat this
with your crown chakra, it will also expand.
Bless others with divine light, love, power,
happiness and healing and your energy
field will be filled with light. There are
many images of the great masters holding
outward facing hands blessing others with
energy and light.
