Lucky for us, dreams come along
all the time -- and keep coming.
Whether or not we ignore them,
they still have a healing effect. Many
dreamers know this intuitively, but to get
the real benefit of deep healing that lies
in our dreams we need to give them some
of our attention.
My knowledge of the power of
dreams came as part of a search to heal
myself. I had just gone through a breakup
that had pushed me to the edge when
a Jungian analyst appeared in my life --
literally moving out of my new apartment
as I was moving in. I sought their help,
and once in analysis was introduced to
Jungian dreamwork. Over the next 15
years, I continued to learn firsthand
about dream healing from a number of
inspirational Jungian teachers, in Australia
My senior analyst was Mrs Rix Weaver
of Perth, then in her eighties. At that
time I was living in Sydney, but visited
Perth in university holidays to work with
Rix for five or more consecutive days. In
the psychological sense, through rapidly
growing awareness of the importance of
dreams to my wellbeing, these week long
intensives moved mountains.
A considerable writer, teacher and
gifted painter, Rix Weaver had studied in
Zurich, Switzerland, at the time of Carl
Jung. In the 1960s, when she returned to
her home state, she became the
first Australian Jungian analyst. This
extraordinary soul initiated me into
working with the unconscious. She
showed me how to use healing tools
such as active imagination, "the dive
into the deep unconscious". At the same
time, she warned me against using it in
untimely or inappropriate ways. During
the succeeding years, I sought workshops
with leading dream practitioners including
Robert Bosnak and Brenda Mallon. I
learned when, and when not, to use certain
other powerful dream healing tools.
transformation came from extensive
reading. This led to the development of
my own special method of accessing dream
healing through working with dream
During the first of four years living
in a remote bush camp in the Australian
outback, I contracted the mosquito-borne
Ross River virus. For a year, this debilitating
polyarthritic disease had me grounded.
But despite a painful aversion to bright
light (one of a number of possible Ross
River symptoms), I found that the one thing
I could do with any certainty was read.
The disease provided me with an
opportunity to explore a truly wonderful
library to which I fortunately had access.
I read, read and read -- not only about
dreams and dreaming, but every related
area. I found that many of my dreams
had rich backgrounds, themes dating back
to earliest times. I knew they were part of
the Collective Unconscious as Carl Jung
had described it, and were important, if
not crucial, to understanding and meaning.
My exploration of them brought me to
subjects like archaeology, philosophy,

The first high potency
probiotic in Australia
Lactic acid bacteria per sachet
Did you know that about 100 trillion micro-organisms live in your
gastrointestinal tract and many of these bacteria are responsible for
normal digestive system function?
Some species can be harmful though, and if you suffer from
diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, cramping or lactose intolerance,
then your natural intestinal flora may be out of balance.
VSL#3 is the world's most concentrated probiotic and contains
8 different naturally occurring strains of "good" bacteria. By taking
VSL#3, you can effectively recolonize your intestine with beneficial
bacteria and this helps the digestive system work more efficiently.
Restores natural balance
