Anyone with their antennae finely
tuned will have sensed the real
sense of excitement building in
the holistic industry as we near
the end of this extraordinary year, 2012.
It's everywhere as people anticipate
taking part in a range of experiences to
mark a transition point in our evolutionary
journey. Much has been prophesied about
December 21 2012 being end game for
our race based on the most Doomsdayish
interpretation of the Mayan calendar.
While it's undoubtedly sold a lot of
books and tickets to what must have been
incredibly gloomy events, thankfully a comp-
letely different view holds sway among those
who have gone a little deeper into these
texts. And current Mayan elders themselves
have been leading the way, dismissing such
fearmongering as a misinterpretation of
Instead, they tell us 2012 marks the end
of our deeply flawed and hugely damaging
way of living on our planet Earth. In its place,
we will evolve in a more conscious way
that allows us all a foothold on our planet,
without the conflict and inequality that have
marked our human civilisation to date. In
our globalised world, old barriers are
crumbling every day -- just witness the
extraordinary movements of people seeking
refuge in safer countries, including Australia,
new communication channels that open
every day via the internet, the ease of travel
so that we go to Bali or New Zealand for a
long weekend or a sporting fixture.
Several 'transformation' events will
mark this turning point, among them the
Conscious Solutions Summit 2012 in Mel-
bourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast
throughout November, featuring the docu-
mentary Thrive: What On Earth Will It Take.
It has already been viewed by 16 million
people and has started a conversation
uniting people like never before. Another is
UPLIFT 2012 planned for Byron Bay over the
pivotal days of December 20 to 23. Inspired
by such visionary thinkers as Barbara Marx
Hubbard and Bruce Lipton, UPLIFT will
bring an international focus to Byron as one
of the first places in the world to welcome
in December 21 and will unite a huge global
audience the following day for Birth2012.
The event will also be streamed live on the
internet (www.birth2012.org) so anyone,
anywhere can be part of it.
While the vision is global change, it all
comes down to you and me as individuals.
It is only when we open our hearts to others
rather than close them, and make conscious
choices for a sustainable life rather than
a comfortable life that selfishly excludes
'everyone else' that we can achieve such
We also owe it to all of life on Earth
to fight to preserve our natural world, as
the threat continues to mount from the
'business as usual' brigade. Crushing forests,
destroying wildlife, drilling for oil virtually
on 'protected' coral reefs, removing habitat
that has sustained life over millennia is
everything that is wrong about living
unconsciously. I urge you to read 'Standing
for the Tarkine' to see what's planned for
this Gondwanaland wilderness and what we
all stand to lose.
This, and lots more for you this month.
